When you are in the hospital for treatment, the pathologist is a critical member of the team that cares for you. You will probably never meet your pathologist, but his or her expertise is guiding your clinical workup and treatment. One or more pathologists may be consulting with your physician, and the blood and other specimens you provide are examined in carefully controlled laboratories overseen by pathologists.

Interpreting Your Pathology Report

Pathologic diagnoses must always be interpreted in the context of other clinical information. If you have a question about your report or a diagnosis, it is important that you consult directly with your physician.

Your Privacy

The Department of Pathology and Immunology is committed to maintaining the privacy of your medical records. An appropriate signed form will be needed to release medical information. If you need a copy of a surgical pathology report or need to secure a release of your records, slides or other diagnostic pathology materials, please contact one of our patient care liasons at 362-0101.
